NSAC Considering New MMA Rules?

Rumors

We didn’t want to make a big deal out of it until anything was official, but late last year we submitted a proposal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission with suggestions of some changes that should be made to the rules, scoring and judging systems in mixed martial arts. Now that we may or may not have gotten word that it’s possible that they might be considering these new rule suggestions, we have decided to post them here on FightState if anyone is interested.

Update: The phones have been ringing off the hook from journalists, reporters, fans, fighters and even a certain bald-headed President but we want to give the early scoop to our readers so we’ll be posting these new proposed rules on the site later today.

Update 2: It’s been an absolute flurry since this story starting getting some attention earlier today, we’ve had to have people come in on News Years day to answer phones and questions. To save time, here’s a quick FAQ…

When are you going to be publicly releasing your proposal for the new rules?

We originally planned to do it very soon, but with an impending gag-order we have to weigh the pros and cons.

Do you actually think that you’re going to be able to change the rules for MMA in Nevada?

Only time will tell, but it looks promising so far.

Will other states be adopting these new rules as well?

We’ve heard from several other sanctioning bodies across the country, but it’s all been off the record.

How can we thank you for saving the sport of MMA?
