Muhammad Ali’s reign in boxing is the golden age of trash talk.
Ali is known for his way with words, but not all of his opponents appreciated it. When Ali was trying to coax Liston into a fight, he cranked up the trash talk dial to 11 in what was called a “harassment campaign.”

Ali would follow him around calling him a coward wherever he’d go, and one night at the Casino, while Liston was losing big bucks at the craps table, Ali showed up and started making fun of him.
