MMA Fighter Tosses Pokeball At Opponent After Fracturing His Skull

Articles

MVP, Michael Venom Page, is one of Bellator’s rising stars. Up until this point, he’s pretty much fought cans (no disrespect to his opponents) and getting some very flashy knockouts to build his highlight reel. It’s understandable to want to build a fighter up slowly like they do in boxing, but you just don’t see it as often in MMA, especially not with a guy who has been fighting professionally for years. None the less, his fights are always exciting and the guy puts on a show.

He faced his toughest opponent in Cyborg (the male Cyborg, he wasn’t fighting the lady Cyborg, just to clear it up because with Bellator you never know…) and once again landed a devastating knockout, this time via knee to the head. As Cyborg laid on the ground, MVP ran over to his cornermen to get a Pokemon hat put on his head, grabbed a Pokeball, and rolled it over to his opponent who was still laying in the ground in excruciating pain. Cyborg is now in surgery for a fractured skull. Ouch.

Usually it’s nice to see a fighter who is genuinely concerned after they KO an opponent, especially a guy like Cyborg who is a seasoned vet and has paid his dues. It’s been a rough couple of months for Cyborg, who was brutally knocked out just a handful of months ago. MVP definitely got a lot of attention for this stunt, but he’s also been catching some flack, too.

Some of the best moments in MMA are the sportsmanship after a hard fought war, but Page prefers to continue to taunt his opponents after his victories.

When you’ve been fed preferential matchups your entire career, maybe it’s not the best look to do these little stunts afterwards? But he’s trending all around the world, and definitely getting a lot of attention outside of the usually MMA media.
