Answer: Really, really bad.
Last night’s Australian card ended up being great, but at least on paper tonight’s Fight Night event from Brazil is looking kind of rough.
- There are 3 different guys named Silva, but you probably haven’t heard of any of them.
- Ian McCall had to pull out of the fight earlier today because he got sick, after mocking his opponent during weight-ins for missing weight.
- Both fighters in the main event (St. Preux and Shogun) are coming off of a loss.
- 6 fighters are making their UFC debut.
- 7 fighters with previous UFC experience have more losses than wins.
- 15 have never fought outside of the prelims before.
- 9 of them are coming off of a loss in their last fight.
- 11 of them have never won in the UFC.
- 15 of them have not had more than 1 UFC appearance.
But we got two cards in one weekend so… yay?
Still, that doesn’t necessarily mean the fights are going to be bad… they’re just going to be more like a Bellator prelim than a UFC main card. You never want to miss a Shogun fight, but none of tonight’s matchups really have any impact on the standings whatsoever. The only one that did, the previous co-main event, got cancelled at the very last minute.
