Dan Henderson has had a long and legendary career in combat sports. Not only is he a future MMA hall of famer, he’s also an Olympic wrestler. When it was announced that he would be competing in a grappling competition against shamed former UFC champion Jon Jones, it didn’t seem like things were giong to end well for Hendo. He’s a legend, but he’s at the end of his career, and Jones is still in his prime, for all intents and purposes, maybe he hasn’t even reached it yet.
In any case, the two were supposed to fight in the UFC years ago but due to an injury, Dan Henderson had to pull out.
Jones was able to submit Hendo, and then he went on to call out none other than Chael Sonnen.
Jones and Sonnen had fought in the UFC before, after coaching against eachother on TUF. Jones and Sonnen agreed to square off at the next Submission Underground event on January 29th after Sonnen accepted his challenge, an event that Sonnen helped put together. Was the plan to have Dan Henderson also call out Chael Sonnen if he won? Jones vs Sonnen takes place a week after a busy Chael fights Tito Ortiz in Bellator.
