Joe Torrez Improves Record to 5-5

Articles

All of Joseph Torrez’s fights have ended in the first round but he’s been on the wrong side of that every time except once, until recently. This lightweight is fighting out of the United States, and things weren’t looking too good with a 1-5 record in his career. Aged 27, with 10 years of training under his belt, he’s still young and experienced but that’s not an easy hole to climb out of.

Joseph Torrez is Kicking it OldSkool

Remember the dark ages of the UFC, when guys would be fighting multiple people in a night? They were basically doing a year’s worth of fights in one evening, which could really make or break a guys career. If you had, or didn’t have, what it takes to win you could find out right away, no need to drag things out over the course of a year or two. It also required a bit of luck, having favorable stylistic match-ups and not getting hurt in the early rounds made a huge difference.

This past week, Joe Torrez defended himself and his family when four people broke into his home, essentially having 4 matches in one night, just like the olden days. He was victorious over one of them via KO, while the other 3 invaders forfeited the match by throwing in the towels and going full-Forrest by running away after the loss. Ironically, all 4 fights will still ultimately be left in the hands of the judges. When it comes to home invasions, if you’re able to defend your family by eliminating the threat and to come out on top when outnumbered 4 to 1, that’s a pretty successful home invasion from the stand-point of the homeowner. It’s unclear whether these 4 victories will count towards the record of Joe Torrez, whether we’re talking about his MMA record or his criminal record.

DeJa-Stand-Your-Ground-Vu

New Mexico law has a similar to the “stand your ground” rule that we all remember from Florida when a certain neighborhood watchman had a bit of an oopsie-daisy with a local teenager. When someone threatens your life and puts you in danger in New Mexico, you’re allowed to stand your ground and to defend yourself with lethal force, but not to be “trigger happy”, up to the point that you’re no longer in danger. Well, when the guy’s lying there dead in your home, it’s safe to say you’re no longer in danger!

Is This The Top PVP MMA Home Invasion?

There haven’t been a lot of home invasions in MMA history, and aside from some boundary-crossing in the TUF house there hasn’t been a home invasion this notable since Chael Sonnen did a home invasion on Wanderlei Silva by cutting the power to his house and climbing up his stairs with a pair of night vision goggle that he bought from the back of Soldier of Fortune magazine… It seems the four alleged gang members who broke into the Torrez residence weren’t as well-prepared, however.
