Joe Rogan On Reebok Sponsorship: ‘I’m On The Fighters Side, They Lose Too Much Money’

These quotes are from a recent episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast, but the juiciest stuff is on the next page when he’s having a conversation with his pal Brendan Schaub after a few drinks and they don’t hold anything back.

Joe is a company man, but he’s not afraid to tell it like it is:

“I’m on the fighters side when it comes to that. They lose too much money… A big part of what the fighters get is “ego sponsorships”, like Dynamic Fastener. I don’t even know what that is but it’s on so many different T-Shirts.”

On whether the fighters get more money overall:

“I don’t think it’s true. Maybe if the deal changes or they start making more money and it becomes something bigger than what it is right now.”

Tim Kennedy is never afraid to speak his mind:

“Tim Kennedy said it best. He said on one Strikeforce card he made more money on Sponsorships than Reebok paid out for the entire last UFC card from Brazil. So all those people wearing Reebok gear? He made more money from ONE FIGHT in Strikeforce.”

Bad deal for the fighters, bad deal for Reebok too:

I don’t think it’s a good deal for Reebok. I think it gives them a bad name… All these people complaining about it. Tim Kennedy complains, Stitch Duran complains and gets fired, fighters are complaining, Brendan Schaub complains. That’s all negative press for their brand.”

At the end of the day, people want the fighters to get paid:

“I feel like whenever you’re in a situation where  the fighters are going to lose money, that’s always the number one concern that people have. Everybody knows the window of opportunity for a fighter is extremely small”

Rogan and Schaub talk about Reebok wanting to get Joe in their clothes on the next page:
