Joe Rogan Choked Out a Radio Host, The Room Went Silent When He Hit The Floor

MMA

Chokes are scary things. MMA fans sometimes forget that because fighters can simply tap and walk off without incident but out on the streets or in “real” fights, a choke can completely incapacitate someone in a matter of seconds.

Joe Rogan knows that well, and knows how to execute a picture-perfect rear-naked choke. When a radio host asked him to demonstrate its efficacy back in 2008…well, let’s just say he obliged. Want to see the video? Naturally you do. Here it is:

Rogan locks up the RNC and, within just three seconds, the host drops to the floor like he had just died. The room is left in stunned silence, but the host recovers in just a minute and is up and walking around.

So what makes Rogan’s choke so deadly here? Fight fans have seen plenty of fighters hold out for longer than three seconds and just walk away after tapping without incident. Allow me to explain with this photo:

If you look at the photo above, the blue fighter (Casey Johnson from Bellator) is applying pressure flat across the neck. It hurts, and it can put somebody unconscious, but it’s not going to kill a man in seconds like what Rogan just did.

The difference between Rogan’s choke is where the pressure was applied. Continue to the next page:
