FightState’s Guide To The UFC In April 2014

Articles

It’s a busy month, fight fans, with the UFC putting on 4 events this month and Bellator in full swing. We’ve put this guide together to help you keep track of this month’s UFC events at a glance, and to help everyone who’s sick of scrambling at the last minute to find out how and where to watch an event.

UFC Fight Night from Abu Dhabi – Nogueira vs Nelson

A solid card to get things started, obviously we’re cheering for our boy Big Country and like everyone else we’re hoping Nogueira doesn’t pull out with an injury at the last minute. This one’s taking place in the late morning / early afternoon in North America so make sure you don’t miss it. The whole event will be on Fightpass.

How to watch: Prelims and main event on Fightpass at 2pm eastern, 11am pacific on April 11th.

TUF Nations Finale – Bisping vs Kennedy

The TUF Nations : Canada vs Australia finale has some interesting fights lined up. Interestingly, the two coaches of this season aren’t headlining. Instead, the main billing goes to Bisping and Kennedy who have been calling eachother out for  what seems like forever. Bisping’s coming back from his eye surgery, and Kennedy is coming off of a huge knockout win at Fight for the  Troops 3 last November. Cote vs Noke sees the coaches going head to head, although they haven’t built up much of a rivalty it promises to be a good match between two UFC veterans.

How to watch: Fox Sports 1 (USA), Sportsnet 360 (Canada) on April 16th.

UFC on FOX 11 – Browne vs Werdum

For a free TV card, this one is stacked. The main event is almost guaranteed to end with fireworks, Miesha’s coming off of a great performance against Ronda Rousey, Cerrone is coming off of a crazy headkick KO just a couple months ago, and they finally found someone willing to fight Khabib. With this card coming just a week before the PPV, fans have nothing to complain about.

How To Watch: Fox broadcast stations (USA), Sportsnet 360 (Canada) on April 19th.

UFC 172 – Jones vs Teixeira

This one’s pretty interesting almost from top to bottom. Jones is the heavy favorite to hold onto the belt, but Teixeira has made a career out of devastating knockouts. Will Jones’ chin, which we saw put to the  test against Gus, be able to hold up? Or, better question, how long will Teixeira last in there with one of the best?
