Georges St-Pierre on Medical Suspension From UFC After Fight With Bisping

Articles

Afther his fight with Bisping GSP is now in resting from UFC. The newly crowned champion is on Medical suspension for 45 days. Georges St-Pierre got those 45 days due to the lacerations he taken from Michael Bisping’s elbows during the match. Now it is up in the air wether GSP will defend his belt but it seem he is intended to do.

“I don’t have any intention of making the (middleweight) guys lose their time,” St-Pierre said, while at the same time casting some doubt as to his future as a fighter. “I’m gonna go on vacation next week (then talk to the UFC). Right now, my contract is written that I have to fight Robert Whittaker, but a lot of things can happen in MMA, you see things change all the time.”

Right now that does not seem like  St-Pierre is content on just being  the a champion defending his belt. It would be an accomplishment to make a run at middleweight similar to his title reign at welterweight, but his words bely something bigger, though even he doesn’t appear to know what’s next. We have to wait till his suspension is over and what he says about where he go after full recovery to be sure.

“We’ll see what I want to do and where my head is,” he said. “I have no intention of holding onto the belt and freezing the division. That’s not what I want to do. Robert Whittaker is in my contract. If I want to fight again, it has to be against Robert Whittaker at 185 (pounds). That’s in my contract. I cannot, for example, go fight (welterweight champ) Tyron Woodley or go fight another guy.”
