It’s a sad day for wrestling fans as multiple sources are reporting that legendary WWE wrestler “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has died at age 61. The news was first broken by TMZ.




Piper, real name Roderick Toombs, was one of the top wrestlers of the 1980s, and goes down as one of the top heels in WWE history. His list of accomplishments includes dozens of NWA titles, a Tag and Intercontinental title in the WWF, and a 2005 berth into the WWE Hall of Fame.

His cause of death is not currently known, but is described as “natural causes” by TMZ.com. Piper battled Hodgkins Lymphoma (a kind of cancer) in 2006, but eventually declared himself cancer-free. He is survived by his wife Kitty and their four children.
