Kamil Gadzhiev, Fight Nights promoter, said that Maldonado is the name that is above two other candidates to face the PRIDE legend for his return bout in the cage. The event will surely be welcomed in Russia as the fight fans will be able to catch a glimpse at one of MMA’s most talked about fighters over the years.
“We are negotiating with Maldonado, but his contract is not signed yet. He is seen by us as one of the possible contenders. Apart from him we still have two potential options. And the certainty that the opponent will be Maldonado is not clear because the situation changed with kaleidoscopic rapidity. Also, we are now negotiating with fighters from Australia and the United States.”
‘Combate’ have reported that PRIDE legend Fedor Emelianenko will be back in the cage and will face UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado this summer in an event called ‘Fight Nights’ in Russia this June 17.
Fedor Emelianenko is a well loved fighter in Russia, highly regarded and well respected. He’s styles include, Sambo, Judo, Boxing and Kickboxing.
Fedor has been fighting for over 15 years and has won 11 gold medals back in the day.
