Diaz vs McGregor Rematch in Jeopardy? Nate Diaz: “UFC Played Me Again. Trust Nobody.”

Again, while it isn’t clear what Diaz is mad about, the timing suggests he is mad about Conor McGregor crashing his biggest interview to date, with Conan O’Brien. Check out the video:

If Diaz is mad about this, or pretty much anything, that’s bad news.

Despite his popularity and a relatively bad reputation, Diaz has always been a shrewd negotiator, and has shown himself to be more than willing to sit if the UFC wasn’t willing to match his terms. It’s speculated that Nate Diaz had a front-loaded contract, and so he was happy to sit out and not fight very frequently, since he wasn’t happy at all with the amount that he was being paid per fight. He was waiting around for big fights, because the UFC isn’t really in a hurry to re-negotiate a contract for no reason. Dana White went as far as to say that Nate Diaz doesn’t even “move the needle”, but Nate’s newfound stardom begs to differ.

After just 3 fights in 3 years, Nate called out Conor McGregor after his victory over Michael Johnson on December 19th, 2015. Of course, the McGregor fight ended up getting made, and the rest is history. It was a brilliant career move for Nate. The best career move, so far, has been that rear naked choke on McGregor, which set up the rematch. It’s hard to imagine this rematch going any differently for Nate, especially after a full training camp. Hopefully Nate’s cryptic tweet wasn’t anything serious. It’s unlikely that he was actually all that bothered by Conor’s surprise appearance on Conan to steal Nate’s spotlight, but it’s definitely the type of thing that could annoy somebody, especially if they’re already the type of person who can sometimes struggle to keep up on the microphone.
