While things aren’t certain quite yet, the “when is Ronda Rousey returning” timeframe has been officially moved from “never” to “pretty damn soon.” No, we’re being serious. No, this isn’t a trick. No, this isn’t just Dana White’s signature smoke blowing.
Ronda Rousey is almost certainly coming back…and could be back damn soon.
So what leads us to believe this? Well…some Dana White smoke blowing, to be completely honest. “Yes, there’s a big chance that Ronda Rousey…will probably fight before the end of the year,” said White in an interview with a Brazilian media outlet.
“Confident” that she will “probably” fight “before the end of the year,” isn’t all that unusual, obviously. White was confident that she would probably be back for a rematch with Holly Holm at UFC 200. Then he was confident that she would probably be back for a fight at UFC 205, the UFC’s debut in Madison Square Garden. And now he’s confident that she will probably be back before the end of the year? Why should we care what Dana says on this one bit, when he’s lied his ass off at every opportunity?
Well, the big thing is news from Ronda’s coach, Edmond Tarverdyan. While Ronda’s longtime tutor is still trying to figure out what this whole “MMA” thing is these days, he’s always been both close to Rousey, and has never really been known to be a blowhard when it comes to promoting her fights…just when it comes to promoting her skills.
Still, he went out of his way to plug that Rousey was coming back before long:
