You may of seen this video recently where a father decided to teach his son a lesson for walking out of class. That doesn’t sound to out of the ordinary, but what followed was far from normal.
Tavis Sellers, from Virginia, USA, went live on Facebook in an attempt to try and let as many people see what his son had done and how he was going to pay for it.
Sellers, put on some boxing gloves and requested his 17 year old son to do so too. Then, he began to throw punches at his son, as if he was fighting a man of his own age and size. It was very difficult to watch.
Sellers has now been arrested for domestic assault and battery.
His son was removed from the home by social workers once Sellers was arrested. The son was bruised, battered and bloody from the living room sparring match.
Sellers is now on a $5,000 bond as he turned himself into the police. He turned himself in as a consequence from the video going viral. Many people who saw the video online were demanding that he should be arrested as the video reached millions of views across many social media outlets.
In the five minute video Sellers repeatedly punched his son, giving him a split lip and a bloody nose. Sellers told the media that these injuries ‘healed quickly’.
He also said that they are a boxing family, he also said, ‘no one’s place to judge how he takes care of his business in his house’.
This is what Sellers was heard saying in the video, ‘Hi Facebook world. So my son, 17 years old, decided he wants to go to school and cut up [Joke around] like he don’t want to have to come home and see me’.
‘So one day he walked out of the teacher’s class and, granted, I know teacher’s can be f****d up so I let him know he can walk out of class, but call me so I’m on your side.
‘All day went by, he didn’t call. So now, it’s discipline time because he didn’t do what I told him to do.’
He then explains how he isn’t just disciplining his son, he’s teaching him to defend himself.
