Social media personalities are becoming very popular with sensation viral posts but that with that added fame and popularity comes danger to as well. Islam Badurgov made waves online back in 2017 after impersonating UFC’s super star fighter Conor McGregor
After a year of popular trending this McGregor look-a-like decided to take it to the nex level moving from bodybuilding to MMA training. In the process he met Conor McGregor himself and the two hit it off and form a close friendship. However this is not about Badurgov’s making his MMA debut this year unfortunately, it seems his association with Conor has also brought him as set of new enimies.
Today from social media reports say he is currently in hospitial recovering from an ‘unknown’ attack. Meanwhile, the caption of Badurgov’s video posted by MMA TEAM DAGESTAN highlighted how Islam supports the former two-division champion, being on his team when the viral bus attack containing Khabib Nurmagomedov occurred.
We doubt that you have not heard of this attack but int he event you might have been living under a rock at the time it happened or you are really new to MMA, here a breif recap, McGregor incited a brawl on April 5 and he and his entourage stormed into Brooklyn’s Barclays Center after UFC 223’s media day. He then threw a hand truck through the window of a UFC bus carrying the lightweight champion and other fighters.
The assault injured several fighters, forcing UFC contenders Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg to withdraw from their respective UFC 223 fights. Though there isn’t a single detail on the calisthenics expert’s attack aside from the Twitter video, associating it with his McGregor impersonation and this year’s bus controversy is hard to avoid.
People have noticed Islam’s similarity inbuilt and feature to the Irish man after he immigrated from Kazakhstan to Los Angeles. He would then receive comments from people that he looked just like Conor McGregor. For this reason, the bodybuilder decided to do a ‘prank’ on people in LA by pretending he was UFC fighter, even having the Conor’s tattoos drawn on his body. In an interview Islam said:
“People started to comment, ‘Conor’s double, Conor’s double, Conor’s double.’ I thought, ‘ok, we’ll believe that. Let’s give it a try,’ as they say. They tattooed me for six hours. From 7 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon I was getting tattoos done with makeup.”
The attack on Islam happened while he was in the city. The day after the attack, Islam posted on Instagram that he was in Russia and he was flooded with comments from Khabib supporters threatening his life.
Islam Badurgov had received several death threats leading up to and after the incident with Conor and Khabib. It reported that he did not take these threats seriously to get professional bodyguards.
However, apparently, it is reported that one of Khabib fans thinking he was Conor McGregor from a vantage point ran up to him and insulted him then stabbed him in the neck before leaving the scene. No arrest has been made so far in relation to the incident.
