Conor McGregor Has Been Getting Death Threats So He Hired Bodyguards

MMA fans are crazy sometimes. Just ask Matt Brown. While Conor McGregor might be a tough dude, it only takes one insane person with a gun or a knife to fell the best of us.

After years and years of receiving death threats, though, McGregor is starting to think about his personal safety…which has led to him hiring some very big, scary men to protect him and his attractive girlfriend. According to reports out of Dublin, McGregor was flanked by two men nicknamed “Rocky” and “Drago” at the VIP Style Awards.

I'm pretty sure that it's a different Rocky and Drago. Not totally sure, but pretty sure!

Irish media outlet the Irish Sun talked to a source close to the situation. “Conor and Dee arrived around 30 minutes after most of the other red-carpet arrivals and they were accompanied by an entourage…Conor was really relaxed and in great humour but the bodyguards didn’t let him out of their sight for even a minute.”

That’s obviously a wise call by McGregor. Even though the majority of UFC fighters can live their life under-the-radar and generally go unnoticed by random people on the streets, McGregor is a bona fide celebrity to the point where he has to worry about being another John Lennon or Rebecca Schaeffer.

MMA is quite lucky in this regard, but thinng quite quigs could be changickly. As UFC fighters attract more mainstream attention, it will similarly attract more people that could attack or threaten them. The Kyle Nokes and Court McGees don’t have to worry about that at this moment.

Paige VanZant, Jon Jones and Ronda Rousey, though, may want to hire some muscle of their own in the near future.
