Conor McGregor put on a one-man press conference from his self-built gym in Vegas recently and talked about a lot of things, including his defeat at the hands of Nate Diaz, and how he plans to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.

From skipping press conferences, to creating his own, Conor’s got the media back in his corner and he’s going to sell this fight as much as he possibly can during the next week leading up to UFC 202 on August 20th. He wants to continue to break records, and to continue to be the biggest draw in the UFC, but the most important thing that needs to happen is a victory. If he’s not winning, the bravado and over-the-top persona just falls flat. He’s done a good job of cooling it down leading up to this rematch, because it’s hard to cocky and to talk trash when you’re coming off of a loss. It’s even harder coming off of two losses, so this is a huge fight for McGregor.

Conor reflects on his rise to the top, how he used  to prepare for fights and how his whole camp has become a lot more busy since they’ve found success, and how he needed to get grounded again to find structure and really focusing on fighting and training without the circus that surrounds it. He talks about how important training times and schedules are, because he was missing structure and ignoring rest in the past. There are a lot of distractions for a fighter, but at the end of the day it’s just them, a pair of gloves, and their opponent.

“He’s more than a welterweight now, he’s about 200 pounds. He’s enjoying himself,” says Conor in regards to Nate Diaz and his size.

There’s no denying that size is going to be a factor in this fight. It’s harder to KO bigger guys, as Conor learned the first time around. He hit Nate with the type of shots that had other guys buckling, and Nate just ate them like a sandwich.
