Cody Garbrandt Says He Used To Knock Out TJ Dillashaw In Practice, Wants To Fight Him NOW

Articles

Despite Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt’s stunning victory over Cruz, there’s ‘no love’ lost between Cody and former Team Alpha Male teammate TJ Dillashaw. TJ lost the belt to Cruz, who lost it to Garbrandt. TJ has looked spectacular since his defeat to Cruz, and also looked excellent in his defeat. The top of this weight class is very interesting now, it’s filled with absolute monsters and they’ve fought eachother. The one match-up remaining to complete the triangle and see who holds the top spot? It’s Cody vs TJ.

TJ Dillashaw controversially left Team Alpha Male to train fulltime with Bang Ludwig, and has looked stellar in the process. This turned into a bit of a public spat between members of both teams. Now that Team Alpha Male holds the belt, and TJ Dillashaw definitely deserves a title shot after his domination of Linekar, it seems like a no-brainer, and both fighters want it, too.

“I don’t mind whoopin’ T.J.’s ass,” Garbrandt said. “He was a cancer to our team and having what he tried to do – destroy it – to make that s**t personal too. I’ll spare everybody 60 bucks to buy the pay-per-view and put out the video of me knocking his ass out when I was 1-0. 1-0. He wasn’t saying that he made me cry in practice. That motherf**ker never made me cry. I wasn’t the one looking at the ceiling, being on my back looking at the ceiling, knocked out. So he’s just trying to do anything – the guy’s a horrible trash talker. Horrible.”

When Cody was 1-0, that was back in 2013, and TJ Dillashaw was already in the UFC at that point with a record of roughly 8-1 depending on when these sparring matches took place.
