Chael Choked Up Over TRT Ban: “I may have to stop this sport.”

In light of the recent banning of TRT exemptions in the UFC, now we know that the P in Chael P Sonnen doesn’t stand for PEDs.

Everyone’s first thought upon hearing this news is how it would affect the four housemen of low-testosterone: Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen and Bigfoot Silva. Well, Bigfoot’s out for a year, Vitor withdraw from a title shot mere hours after the accouncement, Hendo has been hush hush in the lead-up to his rematch against Shogun and now we’ve finally heard from the outspoken Sonnen. Here’s a collection of statements made by Chael Sonnen regarding the TRT ban and his future in the sport.

“The best way to describe is that it is a completely terrible, horrible feeling,” Sonnen said, in reference to life without TRT. “This is a medicine and it’s medicine I need to live normally on a day-to-day basis. People say it is a performance enhancer, and there are a lot of things guys can take to enhance performance. But testosterone is more than a performance enhancer for me. It is a life enhancer.”

“My life is better. My attitude is better. I have more energy. I need less sleep. It makes me feel better in many different regards. It makes me a better husband and a better neighbor and a better pet owner. I understand the abuse, but this is a medicine that helps people with a problem.”

Chael also spoke about the TRT exemption ban in MMA on the most recent episode on UFC Tonight, where he said “The first thing I need to do is reserve the right to change this answer I’m going to give a month from now. There’s a lot of moving parts, I don’t have all the information but the bottom line is that testosterne is out.” Chael Sonnen concluded by saying, “If this retires guys then it retires guys. The rules are the rules and the rules need to be followed… I have had to stop with testosterone with the hope that we can find a new ay to gain results of upping testosterone at a healthy level. If not, I may have  to stop the sport and it’s as simple as that.”

It would be a bummer if Sonnen had to hang up his gloves & shorts before we had a chance to see him get a much-deserved rematch against Rashad or to get one fair chance against Anderson.
