BREAKING: Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz Both Failed Drug Tests

Articles

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Nick Diaz tested positive for marijuana in his post fight drug test, he even took a nap during the fight. What IS surprising, however, is that Anderson Silva tested positive for Drostanolone, a type of anabolic steroid. Silva is often considered by fans to be one of the least likely fighters to be juicing, despite the fact that in an old UFC Cribs interview at his home you could see syringes not-so-hidden in his closet. Is normal.

The UFC has released the following statement:

“On February 3, 2015, the UFC organization was notified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission that Anderson Silva tested positive for Drostanolone metabolites on his Jan. 9 out of competition drug test. UFC’s understanding is that further testing will be conducted by the Commission to confirm these preliminary results. Anderson Silva has been an amazing champion and a true ambassador of the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC, in Brazil as well as around the world. UFC is disappointed to learn of these initial results. The UFC has a strict, consistent policy against the use of any illegal and/or performance enhancing drugs, stimulants or masking agents by its athletes.”
This is Nick Diaz’s third time testing positive for marijuana metabolites. In Nick’s case, it was the post-fight test that he failed and in Anderson’s case it was a pre-fight test.
