BJ Penn to Return to UFC. He Wants Conor McGregor and His Featherweight Title

BJ Penn is a UFC Hall of Fame inductee and all time legend of the sport. He retired after third loss the Frankie Edgar back in 2014.




Now, after being in training for a while with hopes of a return, Penn has come forward and expressed his desires at one more stint in the sport that made him a legend.

Penn said to Inside MMA recently, “We want to get the 145-pound belt. We already know nobody is going to do the 155 to 170. Somebody might go the 125, 135, 145, but nobody is going to go 70. I don’t think so.”

“If I don’t think I can get the belt, there’s no reason for me to be here right now, I’m ready. I want to fight, and I want to show everybody how good I can do.”

“I would fight Conor McGregor any day of the week. With Greg Jackson behind me, I’ll fight anybody any day of the week.”

Penn now 37, is a two weight UFC champion, a very rare achievement in the UFC. The only other fighter to do this was Randy Couture, capturing the light heavyweight title along with the heavyweight strap.

Many fighters have tried to do this in the past and came up short. Conor McGregor is one name that went for the lightweight belt against Rafael dos Anjos but we all know how that drama unfolded.
