Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm Agree Verbally for UFC 239 Fight

Quickly, the card that will mark the return of the UFC to Las Vegas is taking shape.

After it was learned that Jon Jones has agreed to defend his belt against Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos in the main event of UFC 239 , an ESPN report corroborated by MMA Fighting indicates that the champion Gallo Peso, Amanda Nunes , and the number two of the classification, Holly Holm , have verbally agreed to measure themselves in a titular contest that would serve as the co-star of the evening.

The rumors about a possible fight with Nunes began when Holm was removed from the fight he had planned with Aspen Ladd a little over a month after UFC 235 .

It is believed that this could be the last fight of the Brazilian, who knocked out in 56 seconds the feared Cris Cyborg in the co-star of UFC 232 to battle for the Featherweight belt and become the first woman in the history of the UFC be multiple champions simultaneously.

Holm, the second monarch in the history of the Gallo Weight division, comes from obtaining a unanimous decision in the UFC 225 over Megan Anderson in what was her third presentation as a Featherweight after losing to Germaine De Randamie in UFC 208 and against Cyborg at UFC 219 .

After dethroning Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 , ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ went on to lose his next three fights. In all, Holm has won two of his last six contests, which contrasts sharply with the fact that Nunes does not know what it is to lose from September 27, 2014, when it was finalized by Cat Zingano at UFC 178 .

Currently ‘La Leona’ is on a run of eight wins in a row with six finishes.

UFC 239 will be held during International Fight Week on July 6, 2019 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
