Donald Cerrone’s Tirade About Jamie Varner

We’ve heard the “I want to kill this person” shtick before. It’s a line-crosser but it’s something we’ve heard often enough that it doesn’t really get much of a reaction anymore. Donald Cerrone, however, brought a lot of heat on himself with a 2010 interview about Jamie Varner.

Cerrone was still bitter about their 2009 fight for the WEC lightweight title, which ended in controversial fashion when a fifth-round illegal knee lead to a technical decision that split toward Varner. When he was finally set to get a long-awaited rematch at WEC 51, he let slip a lot of bad stuff. You can find FightOpinion’s full transcription here, but these are the high(low)lights:

“This is real, this isn’t like the WEC trying to get us to you know to amp it up, which I’m not. He’s really a fag. I mean, that’s what he is, you know, and his true colors will show up…he’s got the bitch gene, man, and when you have a bitch gene it don’t matter what you do you can’t fight and you’re either born with it and that’s who you are as a person and you can’t fix that, you know, and it’s going to come out…

I hope my emotions have everything to do with this fight. I hope they come out and I’m just fucking fired up and all I want to do is go out there and kill him and that’s what going to get me going that first round…So, I hope my emotions take over and I just kill this dude. I hope this is the first death in MMA.”

Yeah…that probably would not have gone over too well in today’s UFC.
