26 Year Old UFC Fighter Retires After His First Win

MMA

Nothing wrong with going out on top.

On Sunday, 26 year old MMA fighter Frankie Perez stepped into the cage for his second fight in the UFC. He may have lost his first fight, but he was standing where thousands have before him, he was standing in the exact place that every MMA fighter dreams of competing.

During his career, he managed to put together a respectable record of 10-2.

At UFC Fight Night 74, Perez knocked out his opponent to capture his first win in the UFC. Instead of asking for a bonus, or calling out a ranked opponent, Frankie Perez shocked everybody by retiring.

“Me being at 26, man, this was my first win in the UFC and my last. I’m done after this, man. I brought my dreams to come true, and I’m ready for the next chapter in my life. I’m done putting my family and body through all this.” – Frankie Perez

It’s understandable. The guy could be making a lot more money driving a truck or spending a few months working on the oil rigs instead of spending months in camp, putting his body through hell, for a few grand and some new shoes.

The always-classy gatekeeper Michael Bisping, who was perched up in the broadcast booth for the event, said:

“He hasn’t got the cajones for this sport.”
