Performers dying young is, unfortunately, commonplace in professional wrestling and today was no different. According to her management team, WWE legend Chyna was found dead in her home on Wednesday. She was 45 years old.
Chyna defied many of the traditional conventions of women’s wrestling, typically competing against men and often winning. She is the sole woman to hold a non-women’s title (holding the Intercontinental Championship twice for a combined 64 days), the only woman to compete in a King of the Ring tournament and one of just three to compete in the Royal Rumble. She is remembered as a staple of the Attitude Era due to her status as a founding member of D-Generation X.
