Cris Cyborg recently went on The Big Brown Break Down podcast to give her side of the story over the whole UFC thing and came off looking super sympathetic, all she wanted was to get in the UFC’s good graces, to be treated fairly, and to have a chance to take her career to the next level with the UFC’s support. However, at UFC’s big athlete retreat thing in Las Vegas where they pander to their fighters and kick people out of the room for criticizing the Reebok deal, Cris Cyborg got into it with Angela Magana in what started as a war of words, but quickly turned physical.
Some reports said that Magana was staggered and rocked from the punch, but that isn’t obvious from this video.
It starts with Cyborg calling out Magana for being disrespectful, which is clearly a trait that Magana has flaunted and showcased in the past and helped her gain notoriety, and she’s also flaunted her glorious booty.
Magana responds by saying something along the lines that she can talk about whoever she wants, and then Cyborg strikes her, which leads to some audible groans from the audience.
Let’s not rule out the fact that Cyborg has been desperately trying to find someone with at least a bit of fan recognition to fight her, for ages, and a lot of people are turning that fight down. Since this is put out by Sports Illustrated, and that someone’s shoulder is blocking the actual moment of the punch, this could totally just be promo. Let’s see if these two end up booking a fight contract anytime soon. In this new era (And previously, too) we can’t put anything past them when it comes to stunts like this.
