UFC Meets World Cup In The Worst Way Possible

Articles

There’s a surprising amount of cross-over between MMA fans and World Cup fans, but it’s definitely not due to the antics that happened last night in the Matthews vs Johnson fight in Auckland, NZ.

There are a lot of differences between the two sports, obviously. In MMA, you’re encouraged to use your hands. In MMA when you fall to the ground, it’s rarely on purpose.

So what about the similarities? Well, it seems that Dashon Johnson took a page out of the Suarez book when he bit his opponent, take a look…

That’s pretty nasty. Hometown favorite Jake Matthews even shows off his bite mark to the camera at the end of the fight. Now that we’ve seen how Deshon holds up against high level opponents, maybe it’s time to pack up the gloves and trade them in for a pair of cleats.

Not only that, but he was deducted a point in the second round for 12-6 elbows to the back of the head (Double illegal!), and warned for blatantly grabbing the fence to prevent a take down. To add yet another sport into the mix, that’s three strikes.

If you want to talk about padded records, take a look at one of Dashon’s opponents, who he has beaten twice… This guy is a knockout and submission artist, however he’s always on the wrong end of them.
