UFC 175 Looks Stacked So Far

Featured

This 4th of July, MMA fans can keep the party going for one more day because UFC 175 is set to take place on the 5th. So far, we’ve only heard whispers of a handful of the fights that will be taking place and nothing is set in stone but if these 5 bouts are any indication, we’re looking at one of the deeper, more stacked cards of the year. Two title fights, a huge grudge match, and some other interesting fights…

Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida

This fight for the middle-weight belt was originally scheduled to take place at 173. This is a huge opportunity to Weidman to silence a lot of the critics who still question his victories over Silva. A win over Lyoto is about as legit as it gets, but Machida has looked incredible lately so this is going to be the cherry on top of a great card.

Ronda Rousey vs. Alexis Davis

While everyone was speculating and Ronda fighting Cat Zingano, Cyborg and Gina Carona, and even Floyd Mayweathter, Alexis Davis was preparing for the biggest test of her career. Alexis Davis is working with Team Alpha Male on her “wrestling”, but something tells me that’s slang for “striking”.

Wanderlei Silva vs. Chael Sonnen

This fight has already been moved around a few times so don’t hold your breath, but if everything goes as planned this will be an interesting fight one way or another. Chael won their first match-up with a solid takedown, unfortunately it was unsanctioned. These two have been chirping back and forth for years.  Which Chael is going to show up… The one who brought heat to Anderson Silva, or the one who turtles up at the first sign of adversity?

Uriah Hall vs. Thiago Santos

Say what you want about his UFC career so far after such a dazzling stint on TUF, Uriah Hall did manage to make Chris Leben quit… Not just the fight, but his career too. Hall has been hit or miss in the UFC after looking like a monster in the TUF house. If he can remind fans why they got on his bandwagon in the first place, this might be a good chance to re-rail the hype train.

Chris Camozzi vs. Bruno Santos

A heart-warming tidbit about Chris Camozzi: His previous bout was cancelled when his opponent was injured at the last moment. His sponsors for that fight included the members of an MMA forum who paid to have  their website address on Camozzi’s walk-out shirt and shorts. The goal of this is to raise awareness for a lil dude named Gabe who’s battling Cancer. They’ve raised nearly $10,000 so far. A man of his word, Camozzi carried over the sponsorship for this upcoming fight, which is going to be a much bigger card in front of a much bigger audience.

Rumor: On top of all that, Urijah Faber’s manager has said that The Calofironia Kid is looking to fight on the UFC 175 card if the right opponent comes along.

Leave a comment if you can think of any other great fights that would make sense for this card.
