Tim Kennedy Weighs In On UFC vs Pride Gloves on Rogan’s Podcast

Articles

Recently we posted a piece digging in deep when it comes to UFC gloves vs Pride-style gloves. Fittingly, Tim Kennedy had some thoughts on gloves that he brought up the very next day on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. We already know Rogan’s take on it from the last article and comments he’s made over the years, but Tim had a great solution so check it out. (Find the original article here.)

Key points:

  • Pride gloves support the wrist area better, and that’s where a lot of broken hands happen so Pride gloves are better at protecting fighters from breaking their hands (An injury that happens ALL the time, especially to the heavyweights.)
  • Later in the conversation, Tim Kennedy revealed that he’s actually currently dealing with a broken hand from his Bisping fight but he didn’t have the brace on because he was embarrassed.
  • Having the fingers curved by default (Like with Pride gloves) and needing to use a bit of effort to get them straight isn’t a big deal, and it can prevent a lot of injuries.

So what’s Tim Kennedy’s solution?

“Take their gloves, and take the word PRIDE off of it, and put those 3 letters [UFC] on there and BAM, a solution.”

Seems easy enough, right?

Aside from gloves, Joe and Tim talked about a lot of other stuff including war, PTSD, parachuting into shark infested waters, training, dieting, proper hygiene for grapplers, what it’s like training with Jon Jones, transvestites that hang out outside of his gym and a lot more.
