In light of recent developments, maybe it’s worth remembering that this is far from Jones’ first encounter with the fine folks at USADA. Jones has failed multiple drug tests in the past, but somehow managed to get off with minimal damage to his career, and there’s even a story of him hiding underneath the Octagon at his gym, while drug testers were waiting around for him to show up and take a test. He waited for hours until they finally left, according to Chael Sonnen.
Now, as funny and classic as this story is, it’s also worth keeping in mind that Sonnen is notorious for making up stories. None the less, this has become a piece of MMA lore now, and it’s just hilarious to imagine Jon Jones hiding under the octagon all day, with everyone in his camp knowing he’s there, having to avoid acting weird or even acknowledging him.
Gotta know what everything thinks. Do you believe that this story is true, or is this just Chael Sonnen being Chael? Had you heard of this story before? And finally, do you want to see more throwback posts to random things in MMA history that might have missed your radar? Sometimes people who became fans more recently like to go back through the history of the sport, not that this segment in participial really qualified as a significant moment in MMA history.
Also, what do you think of this whole recent Jon Jones thing? Are you mad at him, don’t care, just feel bad for Cormier, or waiting until more information comes out before making any judgement? A lot of MMA fighters have already come out to express how disappointed they are, or angry, or just simply not surprised at all. Where do you land on this whole thing?
