The Nevada State Athletic Commission messed up when they controversially suspended Nick Diaz for five years. They messed up bad.

Diaz was not at all amuse by how his NSAC hearing panned out.

The governing body of combat sports in Nevada has long had a tenuous relationship with fighters and pundits but when they leveled a brutal(ly unjust) five-year suspension on Nick Diaz for smoking weed, things reached a tipping point. The condescension thrown at Diaz sat poorly with fans as it was, but when he was inexplicably given what would functionally be a career-ending suspension, the outrage erupted in a big way.

According to Inside MMA on AXS TV, that overwhelming negative reaction from fans, fighters and random celebrities, has been a big factor in the Commission’s willingness to engage with Diaz’s camp in settlement talks. And a decent part of that negative reaction has been in the form of death threats to the individual members of the Commission.
