Rory MacDonald Heard That Robbie Lawler Was On Steroids For Their Fight of the Year

MMA

After several rumors and a report from Flo Combat, former UFC welterweight title contender Rory MacDonald officially put pen to paper with Bellator MMA on Friday night. It was a bittersweet moment for fans as one of the best fighters and most enigmatic characters in MMA left for an uncertain and potentially un-entertaining stint with the world’s number two promotion that will almost certainly line his pockets, feed his family and extend his career.

Now that he is no longer bound to the UFC in any way, however, he is more than willing to let the world know how he really feels about his now-former employer, and his now-former opponents.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani on MMA Fighting’s the MMA Hour, he tore into former foe Robbie Lawler, and accused him of using PEDs.

“Actually right before this conversation, something very interesting came up to me. We are going to have to see where it goes, but it has something to do with the title fight against Robbie Lawler. Some very interesting information just came about. We’ll see what happens with that…”

“I worked hard for that fight and I fought my heart out. I left everything in there. I left my soul and I really left everything out there. I came in honest, and I always have my entire career. I don’t play with any dirty drugs, any performance enhancers or something I don’t believe in morally. I always believe in myself that if I work hard, work on my techniques, train hard that I can get to the top and be the best. The fact that whatever happened in there, if this is true, it pisses me right off to my core”

Robbie Lawler did THIS to Rory MacDonald, so it's hard to blame him for being mad about possible PED use.

For MMA fans that are either very new to the sport, senile, or incredibly terrible at paying attention, Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald put on one of the single greatest fights in MMA history at UFC 189. For four rounds, the two went back and forth and utterly brutalized one another, with MacDonald’s nose being crushed (see above) and Lawler’s lip being so badly split that part of his mouth couldn’t move. Lawler would win via 5th round knockout when MacDonald couldn’t continue after taking a devastating punch to the face.

I can't blame Rory MacDonald for being suspicious of anyone at this point. I'm still trying to figure out how Brock Lesnar could get popped. Photo by WWE.

UPDATE: Rory has redacted his concerns, more on the next page:
