Now They’re Saying The Rory MacDonald / Paul Daley Fight Was Fixed

Articles

Bellator is no stranger to having the authenticity of their fights called into question, in particular the Sonnen vs Tito fight and the Kimbo vs Shamrock bout. Because of those two controversial bouts, people are so quick to jump to conclusions about any other Bellator fight.

Let’s make this perfectly clear: Fixing a fight is a HUGE deal, it kills all integrity of an organization, and to make these sorts of accusations is a HUGE deal if you can’t prove it. Just because a couple fights in Bellator’s past looked a little iffy to some people, that doesn’t mean Rory didn’t put a massive, legitimate smackdown on Daley, full stop.

But that’s not stopping crazy conspiracies…

Over on The Underground, there’s a post where somebody lays out their reasoning as to why MacDonald vs Daley was a work, and it’s one of the craziest things you’ll ever read.

The fact that Rory drastically outclassed Daley is simply because he’s a much better fighter, there’s nothing shady going on here at all.

Now, the post-fight brawl between Daley and MVP is another story, that could absolutely be Wolf Tickets and setup for publicity, in fact it probabally was, or even if it wasn’t pre-meditated, both fighters know exactly what they’re doing in that case… but the fight that took place last Friday inside the cage? If you watched the fight and honestly think it was thrown, you need to give your head a good shake.

Here are the points brought up by the people claiming this fight was fixed:

These are not our opinions at all, these are gathered from the post that alleges that Paul Daley threw the fight.

  • Rory’s ground and pound wasn’t as strong or devastating as it’s been in the UFC.
  • Daley didn’t try hard enough to escape the submission.
  • Rory didn’t even have both hooks in, didn’t seem very heavy on top.
  • Daley made no effort to defend the choke or fight hands until he had allowed Rory to sink the choke.
  • Rory didn’t seem “proud” enough after winning, their demeanor was like they had just finished rolling.
  • Even when Rory hugged and kissed his lady it seemed forced.
  • The whole scuffle with MVP afterwards.

Again, those are NOT our opinions, those opinions belong to the poster over at the Underground in all of their absurdity. Most of those points don’t even make sense, let alone being inaccurate.
