MMA Fight Ends In Weird Double Knockout, Here’s How They Picked a Winner

Articles

Over the weekend, a fight took place between  Axel Cazares and Alan Vasquez at Shamrock FC that resulted in the rare double KO. As you’ll see in the video, one guy was a lot quicker to spring back to his feet, but if any of these knockdowns happened on their own, it’s hard to imagine the ref not immediately stopping the fight. Since they both happened at once, things get weird.

One guy tries to jump right up like he’s fine, realizing he needs to put on a bit of a show here to hope for the win. The other guy tries to get up but stumbles back to the ground.

Vasquez was declared the winner since he got up quicker, but it’s a tough call, they’re both clearly out and the fight should have been stopped right there, not after one guy had a chance to recover and stand up. The ref waited to call the fight, saw one guy stand up, then called it off. It’s weird.

Can’t really blame the ref for this though, it’s such a weird situation, but how would you have ruled this fight? Would you have handled it the same way, or done something differently? Let us know!

You never know what you’re going to see when you turn on an MMA fight, sometimes they’re snoozers, sometimes we see incredible displays of grappling, sometimes we see a knockout… And sometimes, the illusive double knockout, too.
