Jose Aldo Forced to Pull Out Again

Articles

We’ll skip the easy “pulling out” jokes and get right to the point: UFC 176 is most likely going to be cancelled because of Jose Aldo’s injury.

Anyone who watched UFC 175 will remember Joe Rogan getting instructions from “the truck” to put Ronda Rousey on the spot after her KO victory over Alexis Davis to ask her if she would be willing to step and take a fight on less than one month’s notice. If you thought that seemed completely unfair and kind of ridiculous, that’s because it was. It turns out, you shouldn’t listen to trucks because this scheme was concocted by a rogue producer who had apparantly read a Cat Zingano interview earlier saying she would be ready to fight. This producer took it into his own hands to play matchmaker.

Here’s the rest of the line-up for UFC 176…

Gegard Mousasi vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza
Bobby Green vs. Abel Trujillo
Jussier Formiga vs. Zach Makovsky
Gray Maynard vs. Fabricio Camoes
Danny Castillo vs. Tony Ferguson
James Vick vs. Walmir Lazaro
Lorenz Larkin vs. Derek Brunson
Bethe Correia vs. Shayna Baszler
Beneil Dariush vs. Tony Martin

There are some interesting fights here but nothing that really screams PPV headliner.

This also isn’t the first time that Jose Aldo has had to pull out from a fight, he also missed UFC 125, UFC 149 and UFC 153. This makes Jose the 4th champ who’s sidelined due to injury, he’ll be joining Hendricks, Velasquez and Pettis on the bench.
