Now that Jose Aldo secured his win at UFC 200, he gave the reason why he held back from inflicting his signature vicious leg kicks

mainly because he knew his opponent strategy and had a counter plan, Frankie Edgar, would be waiting for his kicks as an opportunity probably hold his foot and bring his down. What has been seen by many have good and strategic sportsmanship and game planning by Jose Aldo may now turn out to be sneaky gamesmanship.

Aldo told MMAFighting’s Guilherme Cruz that he had spies in Edgar’s locker room whether he place them there or if Edgar has internal spies in his camp loyal to Aldo we don’t know. What ever it is for sure we know from watching UFC 200 it did not go well for Frankie Edgar.

“If I kicked, he’d take me down,” Aldo said, per Cruz. “We had a few spies from the other side, people that were training with him the entire week, and they always came and talked to us. So I had to stop kicking and my left hand, because he would counter on that.”

“Of course I had (spies). Otherwise, why wouldn’t I kick? That’s my instinct,” Aldo said. “So we always have a spy. We send someone to be a part of that training [room] and then they give us information. We get that information and know what they are training.”

Nice Kick by Jose Aldo
We know that generally fighters would be separated into different training rooms at the host venue and hotel. However some how Aldo found a faithful aid in blue corner who probably risk sanction, his or her job and even civil law suit to help Jose Aldo by tipping him off and provide him information on some of Edgar’s tactics.

Who knows we might be making a big fuss about this but Jose Aldo might not be the first or only one who has been using these sneaking tactics.
