Jon Jones Pulled From UFC 200 After Possible Anti-Doping Violation

Let’s collectively get this out of the way:

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!”

Jon Jones has been pulled from UFC 200.

“The UFC was notified tonight that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency has informed Jon Jones of a potential anti-doping policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection on June 16, 2016,” Jeff Novitzky said.

It’s unclear whether this is some type of steroid, or a recreational drug. But it further proves that USADA is dead-serious about catching people who are taking banned substances. We’ve never seen drug testing this strict and thorough in the UFC before lately.

UFC 200 was shaping up to be the perfect card. It’s rare to see a card so stacked that the vast majority of fights could have headlined their own event. It was going to be the strongest card ever, at least on paper.

Thanks Jon.

Glover Teixeira got the worst of it from Jon Jones, getting poked in the eyes three times.

UFC 200 already lost a huge fight when Conor vs Nate was pulled, but it was replaced by Lesnar vs Hunt so people weren’t all that upset.

With Jon Jones out of the fight, Daniel Cormier is out of luck, and going to miss out on PPV points from what could have very well been the biggest card of all time. Unless someone steps in to take Jon’s place at the last minute:

“Maybe someone will pop up and fight Cormier at the last minute,” said Dana White. “Stranger things have happened.”
