Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones remains a free man. Not only is he a free man, he basically walks away from his once-alleged, now-confirmed hit-and-run incident beltless, but no worse for wear.

That’s because Jones struck a sweet plea deal on Tuesday morning, pleading guilty to a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident. He will receive no jail time and no fine. The judge ordered Jones to make 72 appearances for charity and speaking with children about how to become “Jon Jones: Greatest Fighter of All Time” and not “Jon Jones: Destroyer of Automobiles”.

There is no word on a potential civil case with Jones. It is possible he has already quietly reached a settlement out of court, or that the proceedings have not yet begun or that the victim in the hit and run case gave him a mulligan on all this. Either way, Jones has gotten through the worst part of the incident.

Now that Jonny Bones has weathered the proverbial storm, the UFC has issued a statement on Jones’ standing and future with the company. Check it out on the next page.
