Jon Jones Finally Reveals Why He Said Nice Things About Cormier After Victory

Articles

Jon Jones was recently interviewed on Good Morning America, which means he was awake early enough to be on the show, which means he probabally wasn’t out all night partying, which means he’s still on the right track. That’s a lot of conclusions to jump to, but it’s probabally a good sign either way. We all want the best for Jones, and him keeping his stuff in order means less chance of pulling out of any fights or getting stripped of the title again, and that’s a win for everybody. It really seems like he is maturing as he gets older, even if he still looked at the whole car accident thing as a “test” that God gave him, as if God was testing Jon to see how he would handle the adversity of being criticized for hitting a pregnant woman with his car then running away, returning to grab his cash, then running away again. Maybe God works in mysterious ways, but that’s a real stretch and shows a very narcissistic view of the world.

In any case, we can go on and on about the enigma of Jon Jones, but most recently he was on a pretty soft-ball interview on GMA, Jon answered a question about deciding to be respectful to Cormier after their fight as opposed to trying to “crush” him. While Jon did still manage to get a few strikes in (Referencing being able to crush Cormier if he wanted to, and the comment about Cormier keeping his belt shiny. Nothing horrible, obviously.

Whether Jon said those things about Cormier becasue he truly felt it, or if he just saw it as a way to endear himself to fans again and look really good infront of a bunch of viewers, at the end of the day he still said it. He could have just as easily acted the same way he did after the last win, but he decided not to do that, and that counts for something. Even if his intentions weren’t genuine, it’s still a step forward, and it really did feel like a genuine moment either way.
