Reports are circulating that Jon Jones was involved in a hit-and-run car accident in his new hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico late saturday night. He’s allegedly in police custody and early reports indicate that drugs played a role in the 3-car collision. Multiple sources have confirmed the incident, and we’ll update when more details are made available. Multiple injuries have been reported from the collision. According to Ariel Helwani, all of his closest sources to Jon Jones haven’t spoken to the champ in over a day.
This is terrible timing with the highly anticipated UFC 187 less than a month away. This isn’t the first time that Jones has been arrested for driving while under the influence.
Chael Sonnen has been saying for a while to mark his words, that this fight won’t be happening…
We have no idea how Chael was able to call this, but he did.
UPDATE: The ABQ police are not willing to confirm that Jon Jones was involved in a hit and run yet, they are waiting to conclude their investigation before confirming what happened. As such, it’s safe to say that Jon Jones is under investigation for the hit and run.
