The UFC is no stranger to Olympia talent, with the likes of Ronda Rousey, Sara McMann, Yoel Romero, Mark Coleman, Matt Lindland, Hector Lombard, Randy Couture (as an alternate), Dan Henderson, Henry Cejudo, Daniel Cormier all having been a part of the Olympics for various sports before making their way over to professional mixed martial arts.
But the next guy to make the crossover could mean trouble for the heavyweight division, according to Joe Rogan.
“There’s this Russian dude who’s gonna join the ranks of MMA after the Olympics.
“This dude is so good, he’s so technical and so f—– stupid-strong… his f—— takedowns are ruthless. He runs through guys!
“Watch this mother—— wrestle. He’s so f—– fast and so big and so strong, and when he gets to MMA, he’s running through mother——-. You are not stopping his takedown!” – Joe Rogan
That’s high-praise coming from Rogan, and some fresh talent and new faces is exactly what the UFC’s heavyweight division needs right about now.
