Georges St-Pierre is rumored to make his return at UFC 206

George St-Pierre has said just this week that he is ready for a comeback to the UFC. The former welterweight fighter has said that he feels he’s mental state right now is perfect and we could see he enter the octagon again.

George St-Pierre 26-2, has been away from the game since his win over Johny Hendricks back in 2013. George won via a split decision points victory. 2013 sounds like a long time ago, when you’ve not had a MMA great such as St-Pierre in the octagon.

But, just under a month after beating Hendricks, the Canadian relinquished the welterweight belt, a title he held for over 2200 days, then he went into hiding from the fight game.

Big Brand Boys have come forward and stated that we should get ready for a return of the great St-Pierre. The return will be very soon too, possibly at UFC 206 in Toronto on December 10th. This news will leave fight fans and long term fans of George St-Pierre with sweaty palms in anticipation for his return.

Apparently George was interested in making a return against UFC champion Tyron Woodley after Tyron beat Robbie Lawler UFC 201. But the fight was never made.

What ads serious weight to this rumour is the fact that Reebok have recently released official fight kit for St-Pierre on the Reebok online store in Canada.

The official fight kit for St-Pierre sold out immediately, leaving many fans expecting a return of the former welterweight King.

But, sadly, the UFC haven’t shed any light on a comeback, there hasn’t been a single word mentioning the dates mention nor any dates at all. But, that’s not uncommon for the UFC. They obviously would like to announce the return of GSP themselves.

George St-Pierre has said recently that he hasn’t got all the time in the world, it’s not like he is just starting out with his career, “The clock is running. I’m not getting any younger. I’m in the peak of my career and if there is a shot, there is another goal, another run, I better do it and do it quick, because it is time to do it now.”

“I love my sport and I still feel I’m at my best right now,” he told The MMA Hour host Ariel Helwani.

Us here at FightState can’t help to think we will be seeing a return of GSP, there is simply too much talk going around. What with the official lot being released too, and George himself stating again and again that he would like to comeback, I think we should see a return very soon.

Not just that, now the 35 year old, who is explained by many to be the greatest 170 pounder of all time, said that he’s ready to comeback, that’s the biggest hint of all.

There will be a lot to organise and to put in place, but if GSP wants it, it’s more than a good start.

Dana White has cast doubts over the return of GSP, “I don’t care how big you are or how much money you make or how much money you bring into the company, if you don’t want to fight anymore, you shouldn’t fight anymore. This is a sport you’re all in, you can’t be wishy-washy,” he said during an appearance on ‘The Herd’. “That’s why when people talk about ‘oh Georges St-Pierre’s coming back’. Georges St-Pierre doesn’t have that ‘I want to be a world champion’ attitude anymore.”
