Fight Pass or Fight Fail? Have Your Say Here!

Articles

Few topics in MMA are as polarizing lately as Fight Pass has been. Maybe Ronda Rousey.. Maybe Herb Dean’s decisions lately.. But Fight Pass keeps it’s throne at the top of the heap after many fans complained that they missed the Gus vs Manuwa card entirely because they had no idea where to watch it. Now, you can’t blame Fight Pass for the fact that these fans didn’t take 10 seconds beforehand to find out the details, but there are still some very legitimate complaints that deserve to be addressed. Leave a comment and let us know if you tried out the Fight Pass free trial and stuck with it, or ended up cancelling…

Fight Pass Pros

  • It’s the only place a lot of us will be able to watch TUF Brazil 3 featuring the red-hot Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva rivalry.
  • The “Follow The Belt” collections, and watching through a fighter’s entire career before their next fight, is awesome.
  • Gives international audiences a platform to watch fights live that they weren’t able to see before.
  • Once all the WEC, Pride and Strikeforce events are up there it’ll be an MMA fan’s wet-dream.
  • For the low price of $9.99 you get to feel superior over everyone who’s whining about not having it.
  • Pause, rewind, check out a crazy KO again then skip back to live if you don’t want to watch the promos in between fights.
  • It’s nice to have the prelims and the main event in one place, without flipping through channels and Facebook.

Fight Pass Cons

  • As it stands, it’s an incomplete product – they’re still missing out on most Strikeforce, WEC and PRIDE events.
  • $10/month isn’t a fortune, but it adds up to 2 PPVs over the course of the year – just to watch stuff that used to be free (for the most part.)
  • The Fight Pass exclusive cards have been falling under the radar a little bit – some people don’t know how, when or where to watch them.
  • After TUF, it’s unclear if there will be enough exclusive content on Fight Pass to keep it worthwhile.
  • Doesn’t include the PPV events like the WWE subscription services does…

WWE Did It Better?

The WWE also recently unveiled a monthly subscription service featuring exclusive programming, weekly shows, their entire fight library for $9.99 – the difference is that you also get every WWE Pay Per View along with your subscription which is an incredible deal for the fans. Will the UFC follow suit if the WWE’s model proves to be a huge success? Who knows…

The Final Verdict – Is Fight Pass Worth It?

If you watch a lot of MMA and you like to see stuff live, yes – it’s worth it – you don’t really have a choice but to subscribe if you want to stay up to date on the UFC. Even prelims for PPV events are being shown on Fight Pass so without it, you simply won’t be able to see every fight or exclusive shows like TUF Brazil 3. If you haven’t seen a lot of the WEC, Strikeforce and PRIDE events you’ll easily get your money’s worth with Fight Pass because you’ve got hundreds of hours to catch up on. A lot of the big names in the UFC came from these other big promotions, where  they have already gone on title runs, won belts, and had amazing fights against other top-tier fighters.

If you’re more of a casual fan and  you usually watch events a day or two later, you can probably take a pass on Fight Pass without missing out on too much. None the less, once they’ve got more fights from the old libraries up there, it’s still worth checking out for a month or two to appreciate the classics.
