Conor McGregor Starches Eddie Alvarez And Becomes First UFC Fighter to Ever…

It was an incredible night of fights, between brutal knockouts and surprising moments, it’s undeniable that NYC and UFC were worth the weight.

Hometown hero Chris Weidman, who has been a huge advocate for UFC in New York, was taken out by Yoel Romero, leaving the crowd upset but with a lot to look forward to.

Miesha Tate lost to Pennington, and stunned everyone when she announced her retirement during her post-fight interview. Miesha has been a staple of women’s MMA for the past decade, she was a apart of the rivalty that helped build Ronda’s mystique, and she’s always been a game competitor. We wish her the best with all future endeavors, and the women’s BW division is going to be shallower without her.

Woodley and Wonderboy went to a decision, and the results were initially called as 47-47, 47-47, and 47-48. It was announced as a victory for Woodley, however moments later they had to correct it, because the result of the fight was a majority draw. Woodley looked like he was about to lose it, but it doesn’t change the outcome – just the result on his record. It’s a draw, but Woodley retains his belt and hopefully they’ll put together a rematch soon.

Joanna Champion put on a strong showing against a very tough Karolina, and ended up holding onto her belt, despite a (what appears to be) broken nose throughout the later rounds. Pure toughness!

The main event featured Conor McGregor against Eddie Alvarez, two guys who definitely aren’t best friends, to say the least. Conor McGregor made it look easy. He’s now the first fighter in UFC history to hold belts in two different weight-classes at the same time.

Not only was  this a historic night, the UFC’s first visit to MSG, but it’s also a historic night for Conor McGregor, who once again proved the doubters wrong and accomplished something incredible.
