Conor McGregor Might Be Out For 6 Months After Breaking Hand On Jose Aldo’s Face

MMA

It’s probably nothing, but if Conor’s wrist actually is injured from the one punch he landed on Jose Aldo, he’ll need to get a doctor to sign-off that he’s okay to train and compete sooner – otherwise we won’t see him fighting until next summer. His coach, John Kavanagh, has already gone on the record saying there’s no way Conor will wait until UFC 200 next summer before fighting again.

Conor wants to move up to lightweight to fight the winner of this weekend’s Cowboy Cerrone vs Rafael dos Anjos, making him the champion in two weight classes at the same time. Then, he wants to take a fight at featherweight against Frankie Edgar. The UFC is adamant that they don’t want one person to hold two belts because it means that those divisions will move a lot more slowly, but something tells us they would be willing to make an exception for Conor McGregor. Four fights a year would give him two title defenses in each weight class, which is about average for title defenses for most champions, so why wouldn’t the UFC want their biggest star to be actively defending two belts every few months? The downside is if he gets injured, then you’ve got two divisions on hold.

Hopefully the rumors of Conor’s wrist injury are nothing major and he’s ready to get back into the cage ASAP.
