Conor McGregor and the WWE Are Officially at War

A few days back, Conor McGregor likened the majority of people involved in the professional wrestling world to a specific part of the female anatomy. You know…in the genital region? Well, it was only a matter of time before the WWE rank and file caught wind of that slight and on Sunday morning, they did, and they are not happy about it.

Within the span of several hours, McGregor absorbed a year’s worth of abuse from WWE wrestlers on social media and we here at Fight State will give you all of the highlights.

Let’s start with a familiar name to true MMA fans, Mauro Ranallo. The longtime Strikeforce and Pride announcer (and current host of Inside MMA) got his start in pro wrestling, and is currently one of the ringside analysts for SmackDown Live. While he can usually be counted on to keep things down the middle, he didn’t pull punches when discussing McGregor:

 

Somebody we discussed after McGregor’s initial quote was Sheamus. Both men are Irish, both men love to play the heel, and both men love to talk smack. They’ve gone back and forth on Twitter before and the four-time WWE champion was quick to dust the feud off when McGregor said something related to him:

 

Current United States champion Rusev is one of the best users of social media in the WWE, and he was quick to tear into McGregor with his signature brand of wit:

 

The same goes for Chris Jericho. The veteran wrestler has been straddling the line between work and shoot for his entire 2016 heel run thus far, and he pulled out an old favorite:

It isn’t just random midcarders that are getting in on the action. Top WWE star Roman Reigns tore into McGregor and pointed out the fact that he’s really small in comparison to WWE stars:
