CONFIRMED: JON JONES WILL BE COMPETING NEXT MONTH VS DAN HENDERSON. Here’s the Poster…

It’s confirmed and official, Jon Jones is set to make his way back to competition sooner than anybody had imagined.

Jones and Hendo were first set to square off at UFC 151, but it ended up getting cancelled when Hendo got hurt and Jones didn’t want to fight Chael Sonnen as a late-minute replacement. Finally, the fight that never happened will be happening… sort of.

Here’s the thing. Sorry to bury the lead, but it’s not an MMA fight, it’s a grappling match.

Here’s what Jones had to say when he uploaded a picture of the poster to his Instagram earlier today:

“I take on Dan Henderson in the Main Event of Submission Underground II in Portland, Oregon at the Roseland Theater on Sunday December 11th. Subscribe at www.FloGrappling.com to watch the event LIVE. If you want to attend the event live in person, a limited amount of tickets are available”

This is a fun idea, especially for two guys who were already supposed to complete. We’ll see whether a grappling matches favors Hendo or Jones, as an MMA fight would have obviously favored Jones, but Hendo is an Olympic wrestler. Yeah, so is Cormier, but that was an MMA match… ANYWAYS! You’ll notice that Jessica Eye vs a recently retired Miesha Tate are co-headlining this event, which is a really solid roster of UFC fighters.

It’s hard to imagine that Hendo wasn’t still itching for competition after his retirement. Miesha’s retirement was a lot more unexpected, and a lot more recent, but it’ll be awesome to see her competing again so soon.
