Classic Fight: Watch Fedor vs Cro Cop

MMA

Former PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion and all time great Fedor Emelianenko made his UFC Fight Pass debut last weekend defeating ex-UFC light heavyweight big hitter Fabio Maldonado at the Eurasian Fight Night 50 event in Russia.

Emelianenko showed he still has what it takes to be a pro fighter. But, he wasn’t anywhere near the fighter we saw back in the day when he fought Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic in August of 2005 at the “Final Conflict” event inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

It was no easy fight for Emelianenko, a true fight for the mutual fight fan. In the very first round, Filipović stunned and broke Emelianenko’s nose with two quick straight precisely placed left hand attacks. He discolored Fedor’s midsection with strong body kicks.

A fight that had it all.

Emelianenko then was able to get the fight to the ground and land several body shots, which took a lot of the fight out of Filipović. As the fight went on, Emelianenko became more and more in control, winning most of if not all of the stand up game and scoring multiple takedowns. After 20 minutes, Emelianenko was awarded a unanimous points decision victory.
