There isn’t a HUGE size disparity here, but the bigger girl squares up with a smaller girl and the two start going at it. On the feet, not a lot happens, but once the BJJ girl gets her to to the ground, all bets are off.
It’s the timeless, classic example of martial arts training vs no martial arts training. Skill beats size. Even a little bit of training goes a long way against an opponent that has none. Rememeber when Ronda Rousey was at her peak, and every uneducated dude who has never stepped foot inside a gym thought they’d be able to beat her at a fight no problem? Size and strength definitely matter in a fight, they matter a lot. That’s why we have weight classes. But technique and skill and trump size and strength a lot of the time.
This fight is basically Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz 1 if it took place in a field between two girls. The gets her to the ground, softens her up with a few strikes, then grabs onto that neck like a cobra and doesn’t want to let go.
There’s an arm bar in there, and some ground-and-pound. It’s a clear mismatch once it hits the ground, and the other girl’s friends are quick to get it broken up each time, which is a good idea, because you can do some serious damage if you’ve got some training and you start seeing red against somebody with no training. Especially for a fight like this, where the stakes are low. Controller yourself in the heat of the moment is a very important skill that most fighters learn, but even with the pros there are instances where their emotions get the better of them. Look at Alex Oliveira vs Will Brooks from this past weekend, or Roy Nelson shoving the ref with his leg before that. There’s no shortage of examples. The other girl here might have a chance if she works on her boxing a bit, and manages to keep it standing for the rematch.
As soon as she has the choke, everyone is calling for her to let go.
We never get to know the backstory behind these videos. We love when the smaller person is getting bullied and ends up kicking the bully’s ass. Everyone loves an underdog story, but that’s not always the case. More often than not, the bigger person is winning the fight, but those videos don’t go viral as often, hey?
In this case, who knows who wronged the other one first? Only the people in the video know. Sometimes, the small person can even be the bully. So, don’t jump to any huge conclusions without knowing the whole story, just enjoy it for what it is – a sloppy fight where a smaller girl beats a bigger girl.
